Marseille: thriving city at the western end of the Côte d’Azur, most famous for its old port (and fish market), the Notre Dame de la Garde basilica, the Corniche President JFK and Calanques to the south, and the Château d’If on an island opposite.
The pretty fishing village of Cassis is just along the coast, to the south-east.
